What Recession? By James Martell A former student, who has been enjoying steady growth since 2004 wrote the other day just to say thanks. In his email he said he had enjoyed his best month ever with Google AdSense. To back it up he attached a screen shot of his latest report. (see below -- printed with permission)
Yet, here is a guy saying thanks -- I've just had my best month.
NOTE: in case you missed it, here's a link to the video Brent referred to above. Brent's story is quite typical of what many are going through in today's economy; either being laid off, downsized or having to deal with the fear of losing their jobs. Yet it's not doom and gloom online from all the reports I'm getting. In fact online Christmas shopping for '08, although down over the last few years, was up 10% by all accounts. And that's good news for anyone with the wherewithal to turn ideas into revenue online from home as I and numerous students have done since 1999.
If you can relate to Brent's story you have even more opportunity than Brent did because of the increasing need for retailers to offer online options for customers as a cost cutting measure. Additionally, Brent had to learn from a printed eBook, whereas most of my new students get 26 weeks of video, audios and personal coaching in addition to printed transcripts. And if you can find a topic which you have experience or a passion about, you may surprise yourself at how much opportunity there is in today's changing economy if you make the move from the brick n mortar world to the online world. In 2004, prior to Brent receiving the shocking news from his employer, he was happily employed in Calgary as an airline mechanic for Canada's largest airline. But to his credit, rather than letting a pink slip demoralize him, he made a determination right then and there to find another kind of work, -- something that allowed him to work at home. He Googled "I want to work at home on my computer". That led him to the first edition of my downloadable training. And from there he's never looked back. A few years back Charles and I interviewed him on the Buzz (my twice a month podcast). So if you've got 10 minutes you can here Brent tell the story in his own words. Yes, there is no doubt people are hurting in this economic downturn. But as most in business realize everything goes in cycles. So don't lose hope. You can use the bad news cycle we're in as a wake up call if you choose to. Just like my friend Brent did. All the best,

The irony of this was not
lost on me because whenever
I glance at a newspaper or
watch a bit of news on CNN
these days all I hear is
doom and gloom about the
economy.
