The ShareaSale Think Tank In San Diego

By James Martell

I've been fortunate enough to have been invited to Brian Littleton's ShareaSale Think Tank since 2006.

When he scheduled his latest 2 day event in October, 2008 near San Diego, Arlene suggested we make it a "breakation" by adding an extra day to do some site seeing in San Diego.

Below is a fun video we put together to commemorate out trip.

We arrived a day early and stayed a night at the Hyatt Regency. We had a beautiful room with a gorgeous view of the ocean.

That night we enjoyed a scrumptious pool side dinner, followed by a nice relaxing swim in the pool, then we took a dip in the hot tub. Ah yes, how lovely to look up at the stars and soak the travel stresses away before bed.

The next morning Arlene had tracked down a beach side coffee hut, and gathered up

a couple of danishes, a coffee for me (she hates coffee) and an orange juice for herself.

After check out we hopped into our rented SUV, accompanied by Suzie our GPS (this was loaned to us by Anna, my sons Justin's girlfriend, but we loved it so much Arlene got me one for Christmas. Couldn't live without it while travelling. Guided us right to Sea World with perfect accuracy. Hmmmm, portable GPS units might be a good topic for a website...)

Anyway, SeaWorld was lovely (even without the kids).

We spent the whole day taking in the attractions, snapping pictures of dolphins, penguins, sea life of all kinds, and of course the star of the park, Shamu the Killer Whale.

What a treat to get out of rainy Vancouver and soak up a little sunshine in 75 degree weather!

After playing tacky-tourist it was time to check into the luxurious Grand Del Mar hotel, a 5-star property nestled in the hills about 20 minutes from San Diego, for the ShareaSale event.

As Arlene and I drove up the winding road leading to the entrance I was reminded that Brian Littleton never spares any expense with his events. The Grand Del Mar is a spectacular hotel!

It was great to see Brian in the hallway leading to our room after checking in. He's definitely one of the "good guys" in this industry.

That evening ShareaSale hosted a "meet 'n greet" on the back patio of the hotel where we got to mingle with the other invited guests, a mix of about 20 of his top merchants, and about 60 high performing affiliates.

Throughout the two days we worked in small groups doing brainstorming, round tables and networking sessions with the goal of improving each other's businesses.

The idea was to let the merchants gain feedback from affiliates so they could learn what we wanted. And they, in turn, let us know of their challenges.

As usual, this ingenious format provided all who attended with dozens of fresh ideas on how to make more money online with affiliate programs.

As usual, throughout the event ShareaSale spoiled us with 5 star breakfasts, lunches and dinners. And I'm sure we all left with a renewed enthusiasm for this exciting and profitable business model.

When the event ended on Sunday at noon we had the whole day to ourselves, so we took off in our rented SUV -- GPS in tow -- to checkout Highway 1 and explore the many beaches of San Diego.

After dropping off the SUV at the airport we boarded the shuttle to the terminal.

As we approached the departure ramp Arlene and I both nodded "yes" when I said, "we should come back again sometime".

What a gorgeous city it is! And thank you Brian for the invite!

All the best,
