Gathering Content For KitCarConnection.com at SEMA

By James Martell

Many readers know of my interest in Kit Cars, specifically by the Shelby Cobra.

In fact, I treated myself to one in 2004 after it was clear that my Internet revenue was something I could count on for a long time to come.

In fact, I've built a revenue stream around this hobby of mine by publishing a site called www.KitCarConnection.com.

And as anyone familiar with my training knows your most important job as a publisher is to offer ongoing, interesting and compelling content for your visitor, otherwise the search engines will take note and lower your rankings.

As both a publisher and a father I was able to combine a business trip to SEMA in Las Vegas in the fall of 2007 with a fun outing with my son Justin.

While there we wandered the hundred's of exhibits and exhausted ourselves in a fun way visiting as many booths as possible.

Justin and I even got to chat with the legendary Carroll Shelby, the developer of the race car upon which an entire industry was born.

Now, you might call this a breakation, but it was more of a working holiday, for I got tons of great photos and video for publishing to www.KitCarConnection.com.

Not only that, but I got numerous great ideas for articles just by meeting up with so many of the players in this industry.

In this YouTube video you'll see how I played "roving reporter" at the Factory Five's Booth, the company that manufactures the kit used to make my own car.

If you can, I'd highly recommend developing websites around topics that would get you fired up -- even if there were no income involved.

I see many of my newer students doing this.

And although there are never any guarantees of income, I'd say it's almost a sure thing you'll make money if you combine a hobby with a website your planning, because it so much easier to see the big picture when your work is not only work -- but fun.

Hey, and if you can add the joy of spending quality time with family -- then all the better!

All the best,
