Being a Successful Online Publisher Sure Has Its Perks…

By James Martell

It seems like only yesterday that we were packing for our 20th anniversary celebration in Maui. Suddenly, Arlene and I are now planning a party for our 25th anniversary.

One thing’s for sure: time flies. I often wonder how more than two decades could have passed in the blink of an eye, or how Arlene and I have been together long enough to have a son who is 22 years old. From time to time, it all seems impossible.

Reflecting on our achievements over the past ten years, I am very grateful for our successes. Not only have we provided our children with many wonderful trips, we’ve also given them a very comfortable lifestyle.

When the subject of our 20th anniversary came up in 2004, I took a seat at my computer to start shopping. I was in the market for another vacation, and revisiting Maui fit the bill perfectly.

We had taken a trip to Maui a few years prior, thanks to our success with affiliate programs. The Hawaiian getaway also marked our first real trip as a couple in 15 years. During that vacation, I had a chance to record the Edition #2 of the Affiliate Buzz from the Lahaina Shores, a beautiful hotel right on the beach.

To surprise Arlene, I booked 10 nights at the Sheraton Maui, a gorgeous, 5-star resort with an ocean view. To make sure we traveled in style, I rented a convertible Mustang - our youngest daughter, Victoria, in tow.

Fortunately for me, Victoria was only nine at the time and still thought I was cool.

We arrived in Maui to find ourselves wrapped in real flower leis.

The activities were endless; played and snorkeled in the ocean, swam with turtles, and enjoyed pineapple boats for breakfast.

There was a sugar cane train, Warren and Annabelle’s magic show, a submarine ride, parasailing, journeys into the rainforest in search of a waterfall, and sugar cane smoothies.

Although the point of the trip was to relax and celebrate, I was well-aware that our hard work and dedication to the affiliate business was paying off once again. We explored black rock, strolled down to the Whalers Village shops, and even took home a portrait of Victoria painted by a local artist.

With its warm ocean breezes and tropical beaches, it was impossible not to get caught up in each and every moment. Aside from creating a world of memories, our trip to Maui also gave us an opportunity to spend some time alone with Victoria.

Best of all, many of our vacation highlights were caught on video for us to relive again and again.

I invite you to share in these cherished memories as a source of inspiration, to look towards the future and make your own dreams come true.

I look back on that trip and can’t help but smile. Our ‘break-ation’ was just what the doctor ordered, but it didn’t come as easy as you may think.

Hard work and perseverance certainly pays off. Arlene and I have worked hard and truly enjoyed every step of the journey.

This could be you. By staying focused on your goals and working towards the betterment of your business, you could be enjoying your own family vacation in no time.

See you on the Hawaiian coast.

All the best,
