Not Your Typical "Affiliate" Website - MacKenzie's Story

By Arlene Martell

I have something wonderful I want to share with you.

When I agreed to start the website about Epilepsy, I knew I had some great information to share with other parents because of our own experiences, but was really not sure how the final site would turn out, or if I could really make a difference in families lives.

It is not your typical affiliate site for sure, so I had trouble picturing the finished product. The idea was to build a community site, that would still generate income which I wanted to do for Adam.

It took some planning, but once the site was complete it had all the elements we were looking for, a place for parents to get information, share their stories, get feedback, listen to podcasts, watch videos, subscribe to my newsletter and buy products. What was great about the site, was that my visitors were building my pages for me through blogs and the chat forum.

When you think of a typical affiliate site, you base it around a niche with products you can sell that you know consumers will buy. My site did not fit into that mold. What is great about my site is that it does accomplish the same goals as an affiliate site - but with a big bonus. It is changing lives at the same time.

I got an email from a mom last week who was talking about her 5 year old daughter MacKenzie. Like many kids with epilepsy, they go through drug after drug, with no decrease in seizures and often suffer terrible side effects. They look sick and feel sick. Little MacKenzie was one of the lucky ones.

Her mom found the ketogenic diet, just like we did. Within months, MacKenzie was drug free and seizure free - every parents wish. MacKenzie is the 6th child that I know of who were helped by finding my site. It has all happened in just over a year and was more than I could dream of. Knowing that the lives of these kids are changed forever is a gift you cannot buy. I had no idea this site would make such an impact.

MacKenzie's mom also sent me pictures of her daughter 1 week before starting the diet, during the diet initiation and months later seizure free. The picture is worth a thousand words. Once a sick little girl to a beautiful happy child with a real chance for a future.

Times are changing. People are using the Internet for all kinds of reasons. If you have an idea for a site that is out of the ordinary, it may prove to be more successful than you first imagined. I get approached by people all the time who want to do a site similar to mine for Alzheimer's, Cerebral palsy, Muscular dystrophy etc.

With my site, I am still able to monetize it and have a goal to make an income for Adam of $2500.00 a month. I know my goal will be met as I continue to add products. I recommend products in my autoresponders to my list of subscribers who already trust me. There are lots of safety related products I can recommend as well as books, supplements. diet needs etc. I also have my ebook that I sell, and Google AdSense.

I am thrilled with the feedback I am getting. It is like the story of paying it forward, but I feel I am getting back more and more each day.

If you are considering doing an advocacy type of site, check out the Super BootCamp. Not sure how to do it? You can build your own website by following along with me as I develop my website as James walks me through the process step by step.

All the best,
