The Inside
Scoop: The Story of Affiliate Buzz By James Martell It was in late 2002, not long after the launch of the first edition of the Affiliate Marketers Handbook, Charles Johnston, an associate and friend of mine, approached me with the idea of doing a twice-monthly audio newsletter. The idea came after we had a lengthy conversation on the phone. At the end of the call Charles mentioned that he wished he would have recorded the call. He recognized that owners of my handbook would have learned a lot if they could have just listened in on our conversation -- and so the buzz was born. I loved the idea and so Charles went to work laying the foundation to ensure that the audio newsletter would work smoothly. The key here was to make certain that it wouldn't take too much time on our part, that it would be easy to produce and that it would be consistently delivered on the 1st and the 15th. You have to understand that back in 2002 the word "podcast" had not even been created. Not only that but the technology was expensive and the bandwidth was narrow. So, when we produced the first five editions back in 2002, audio online was a rarity, and because of bandwidth issues, we had to offer both a low quality and a high quality version. I take my hat off to Charles who coined the phrase ‘Affiliate Buzz’. Affiliate Buzz was designed as a 30-minute show in three parts. An introduction, or inspiration portion, then moving on to the meat of the matter with information, and finishing off with a little motivation. As simple as this idea now seems, back in 2002 I daresay it was almost revolutionary. Moreover, the numerous e-mails we have received at the help desk continually thank us for producing this show. Many have commented over the years that the "buzz" was just what they needed to stay on track and motivated, especially in the beginning phases of their online business. This is important, because as they've mentioned, when you're starting out in this business, the beginning is lonely and uncertain. It is uncertain not because it doesn't work, but because you are just finding your sea legs. I think that you will find terrific and valuable information in my twice-monthly Affiliate Buzz audio newsletter, so I invite you to subscribe if you aren't currently a subscriber. http://www.feedblitz.com/f/?Sub=563234 All the best, |
